So ppl may or may not know that I've started doing homebrew beer.  My first batch, a Dry Rye Rognebier from Midwest Supplies turned out well.  I'll still be doing extract brewing but I'm going to branch out with modifications.  Anyone have a particular style they like or a character of the beer they really like.  I'm already going to make a hop forward floral IPA.

sour, unfiltered/cloudy weissbier is generally a favorite of mine but i'm not sure how well it would turn out homebrewed.

Yeah that'd prolly be out of my skill range at the moment.  Sours are hard.

I'm definitely more of a lager/porter/stout guy. I good Irish Red is nice too.

This minus the lager. Granted a good German style lager can be good, but I much prefer a nice dark porter or stout. Reds are good too.

OK, so I think I know what I'm going to do.

BRBBrew - This will be a nice balanced pale ale just about anyone can drink.  Maybe a bit more on the malty side.

Gay Uncle Karrde's Bigger, Blacker IPA - A black IPA based on Midwest Supplies' "Octane IPA" - http://www.midwestsupplies.com/octane-ipa.html  British style, so it will be maltier, and less bitter.  I'm going to increase the fermentables a lot, add more and more flavorful hops - Willamette, Centenial, Kent Goldings - no more cascade., and probably increase the oak.  I'll try the Octane first though when it's ready in a month or so.  Whatever I have left of that I'll bring as well.
