Beercen - [fr31ns]Karrde - 12-11-2012 So ppl may or may not know that I've started doing homebrew beer. My first batch, a Dry Rye Rognebier from Midwest Supplies turned out well. I'll still be doing extract brewing but I'm going to branch out with modifications. Anyone have a particular style they like or a character of the beer they really like. I'm already going to make a hop forward floral IPA. Re: Beercen - at0m - 12-11-2012 sour, unfiltered/cloudy weissbier is generally a favorite of mine but i'm not sure how well it would turn out homebrewed. Re: Beercen - [fr31ns]Karrde - 12-11-2012 Yeah that'd prolly be out of my skill range at the moment. Sours are hard. Re: Beercen - Dtrain323i - 12-11-2012 I'm definitely more of a lager/porter/stout guy. I good Irish Red is nice too. Granted a good German style lager can be good, but I much prefer a nice dark porter or stout. Reds are good too. Re: Beercen - HeK - 12-11-2012 Black IPA. Re: Beercen - k0ala - 12-11-2012 Bock. BRBBrew - This will be a nice balanced pale ale just about anyone can drink. Maybe a bit more on the malty side. Gay Uncle Karrde's Bigger, Blacker IPA - A black IPA based on Midwest Supplies' "Octane IPA" - http://www.midwestsupplies.com/octane-ipa.html British style, so it will be maltier, and less bitter. I'm going to increase the fermentables a lot, add more and more flavorful hops - Willamette, Centenial, Kent Goldings - no more cascade., and probably increase the oak. I'll try the Octane first though when it's ready in a month or so. Whatever I have left of that I'll bring as well.
