Well I'm going to do the thing where I scan my CD key and put the information on. Then again there is one tiny little note...

Try AVG or Avast. They both are free.

My favorite anti-virus is now Clamwin. A suggestion from ainmosni in another thread. Doesn't auto protect, but scans relatively fast, finds the shit, and is free.

Or does that even .. I mean, is it useless to think password changing would help?

Full avast scan reveals no viruses. I'm smart enough not to pass out my account information. Don't know what happened.

But you're using firefox, amirite? Doesn't it scan downloads for viruses automatically anyway?

Take a look at the link I posted.  So far people said only Kaspersky could pick something up.  Some people had to look at the trace of an outgoing connect, and most just reformatted.

That thread is two years old. I wouldn't think it to still be relevant.

Fast service is fast! Steam has reset my password! Of course the big question right now is whether I'm VAC banned now from the guy or not :3 Gonna do some more virus/trojan/meanies scans just to appease my paranoia. I mean, it could have been found out all kinds of ways. I did use that password for everything after all. Maybe somebody got a hold of it from some other source and found my username and just tried it. Who knows? Well, I'm half relieved.

Excellent news.  Here's hoping it doesn't happen again.  Have you considered a password keeper software with a master password on it and just generate S(*ciks098u2-style passwords for everything else?
