TF2 keeps crashing when I quit.

Every time I've tried to quit TF2 lately, I've crashed. No error messages, no weird stuff, just crashing.

Normally, it would quit and then say that HL2.exe stopped responding, but it went back to the desktop.

Now, it just freezes on the last frame and I have to Ctrl alt del.

Any idea how to fix? (running on vista 32-bit)

Same's happening to me. There's a new Steam Client beta that's suppost to solve this.  Haven't tried it since trying the beta though, so I can't say if it works.

So by crashes you don't mean that it quits and gives you an error message, you mean it freezed and you need to stop the process in the task manager?

does this to me on vista, just wait a little bit and a msg box pops up saying HL2 canot close propperly, then you just click close program and its all good.

This continually happens to me as well. Not EVERY time that I quit, but close enough. I have no idea why. HeK keeps trying to get me to type quit in the console instead of quitting via the menu's, but it still hangs either way at the end so...

This exact thing used to happen to me when I tried to close Oblivion.  So I stopped playing.  Worked for me!

Did Steam update TF2, then it would crash?

I'm pretty sure I would notice TF2 crashing after installing something. I haven't downloaded anything that could make TF2 crash, I have constant virus reports, and such-wise.

Same happens to me, but like some one said, "it quits when I press quit" so clicking one extra button ("yes close the crashed program you stupid task manager") really doesn't make me think to question it

now that I see it's such a common issue, I'm pretty sure it's not a virus or anything... just a stupid bug.
