[/quote] Actually I think a better idea would be, instead of damage, if the game has two models inside of each other, as what frequently happens in a corner stack, and you melee, it shoves one of the models out. Sort of like how you get the disoriented 'can't do shit' effect when you get melee'd as an infected. No damage, just fucks you over, you can stiill "corner stack", but you all cant sit on top of each other. Imagine for example the stack on no mercy at the elevator, you shove someone out into the hall, smoker grabs them and now you have a problem with the horde blocking you. Â Sig by Joel |

[/quote] I was thinking that originally, but it would lead to too much griefing, and it would hamper you a lot for accidentally meleeing a teammate. |

I got done with a versus match the other day on the Sewer level. We were doing good, and managed to incap/damage them pretty bad in the cruchendo with the lift (we had a tank spawn, and I managed to get several blows in).
They healed up, and as they progressed we still managed to beat them down in the red yellow levels. As they reached the sewers though... every. single. one. Managed to pick up a 3rd set of full medpacks and pills. They all had healthpacks and pills, even though just a few minutes before we almost finished them off twice over and they used a total of 6 medpacks. I pretty much gave up right then and there. Somethings wrong when you have to pretty much take the entire survivor team out in one lucky blow in order to have any hope of victory, because if not they will pick up miraculously 10+ medpacks and pills on the way to the safe-room, in addition to the ones they get at the start to basically heal them fully. I don't like the idea that the infected must have a tank in order to really have hope in victory against a half-decent team. |

Yes that's been my point. The game needs more than THE TANK as something that can severely hamper survivors. It would fix a lot of things if they could come up with that.

Well this does two things, one, it makes it much more valuable to get to the safe room (if you can get that far) The other big thing it does in my opinion, is that it makes games much shorter My one big problem in l4d is that one VS campaign is still going to take 1 - 1.5 hours depending on how good/bad a team is doing, if making to the safe room is rare and only for really good teams that actually take time to clear infected instead of just running through it rambo and still making it without a hitch. I agree here, altering some integers does not make a game more varied or different. But I do like the advanced instead of normal difficultly idea. Also 1 melee friendly fire sounds really nice. If griefers really wanted to damage you, they'd either shoot you or kill themselves. |

The new patch makes this kind of a moot point, at least the tank spawn plugin, and the survivor switching really helps a lot. last night in vs

everyone on the infected team kept getting the "you will become the tank" then it would switch to "joe is becoming the tank" and then "someone else is becoming the tank"
it would continue cycling through everyone after a few seconds no one would actually spawn as tank and i think that that final tank spawning is what triggers the safe vehicle to actually appear so the survivors rushed out hearing the tank thing coming, and then we would just pick them off slowly because, well, they were screwed idk if this is due to this plug-in or not, but it seems pretty damn likely.
