Mechwarrior Online, a f2p mechwarrior game that isn't complete shit

Free to play, instanced combat with a pretty fast turnaround time on throwing yourself into most matches, nearly everything is available via C-Bills (ingame currency earned by playing in matches/getting kills/assists/staying in formation with your lance/etc), and the mechs and items that aren't are either sidegrade character mechs with a C-Bill earning bonus stapled to them or purely cosmetic (like cockpit bobbleheads and mirror balls).

Dtrain and I have been playing it and actually enjoying ourselves. Some asshole already stole the [BRBU] clan tag though so we're [BRBZ]. Post your ingame name if you want an invite to the unit, and make sure you don't sign any faction loyalty contracts first or you'll have to break them before joining the unit (since the unit leader decides what faction loyalty we have. Currently it's Clan Ghost Bear, but that contract expires in a month and we can do whatever).

I tried it before, the problem with it for me is that... well... it's a mech game... I just really can't get that into mech games, I never have been able to, and I try, oh boy have I tried.

It was initially but the P2W has been pretty much eliminated. The real money only mechs are legit sidegrades. You get plenty of in game currency to buy whatever you need. I've gotten about a week of premium time in total just by playing.

This one apparently intends to add CTF and melee for 'mechs with hand actuators, although I'm not sure where it sits on their dev plan.

No, its only ever been in the tabletop, as Atom notes anything with hand actuators should be able to grip/grab/pull shit on another mech

The notable mechs with melee weapons were the hatchetman/axman and Kodiak...I think there was a Kurita one with a katana as well but I don't recall.
