ACEN 2014 - Rooms & Planning

Update: Got in touch with the course director for the class that conflicts with ACEN (okay, all of them conflict. But this one has a physical exam), I think i'm in the clear to attend. I will leave Milwaukee on Thursday either in the early afternoon or late evening, depending on Deb's schedule. Badge has been ordered.

Since none of you shitasses offered to take it over, I'll be running the community fund again this year. Expect some info on that this weekend, plus some recruitment material--there are a lot of BRBU regulars that I have known for 3+ years but have not seen at an ACEN. To those people I'll compose and send some encouragement to attend. If anyone wants to write anything in the way of a testimonial to encourage attendance, let me know and I'd be glad to append it.

So Hyatt extended my res for Thursday night but they were sold out of doubles at con rate. I currently have a king for thu night and double fri/sat nights. If anyone wants to trade reservations hit me up.... (8ball you said something about wanting a 2 night res instead)

Sorry that I didn't see this earlier. I'm sure our attendance on Thursday night will be less than the subsequent two nights so I would expect that you shouldn't have any problems regarding capacity. See if you can pile 4 people in one bed! Room assignments are far from finalized anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if we have to drop a room.

There's a slim chance I might not be able to book the time off this year. I'm not in a panic yet and won't know more for sure until it's time to pick vacations at work, so it could be just fine.

This year, Crystal and Ain are coming in the summer, so my priority is booking that time off first. It's more sought after, being in the summer, so I can't chance waiting for a second round of vacation picks for that prime time.

Anywho I'm sure I'll make it known if I can't go.

We haven't done room assignments for our group yet, but I'm pretty sure the main hotel is sold out. You could call and ask?

We have plenty of space to assign people to...but at Atom and Luin mentioned we dun got fucked when they stealth released

Is anyone going to be going through Ohio on their way to Acen? I don't have a way to get there ATM, unless my friend from work decides to go, and he's still on the fence. I've got the money for a pass/room available, and would gladly split the cost of gas/other travel expenses, but I'm really not willing to order a badge/commit fully until I know I'll be able to get there.

Well, like I said, you could bus up to Toledo, then Amtrak to Chi-Town. Not sure total cost.

Did a first pass at room assignments - I started with last year's list and then culled it based on who I knew was not attending, a few people who I think are likely but are unconfirmed one way or the other were left on the list but not assigned.

Currently we have 26 confirmed attendees and 12 - 20 free spots (depending on if we drop/transfer Dtrain and Atom's rooms), looking back at last year its not too far off how many BRBU'ers we had as there was a decent contingent of hangers on that filled in extra space.

I also added a list of people to bug to get them to attend/confirm/etc. If you know anyone else that wants to attend that isn't on the list feel free to bug them.

Later this month, Feb 22nd, I'd like to have an open forum on ACEN to discuss rooms, attendance, and a bit of party planning.

I actually have a Thu-Sun res but for Thu they gave me king so I'll have to check out and check in on Fri into the Double. Which brings me to the next point of if someone with a Double Thu-Sun room is cancelling, I'd gladly take it over and cancel my room.
Currently it's Pixels, Kaim, and myself in my room so you can just stick us all in at0m's/tronpaul's room if they have no objections.
