PC Update:
Don't forget to join the brb' u Crew! Crew Link: http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/crew...installing The writing has been entertaining, the environment, well, it's San Andreas on a significantly upgraded GTA IV engine. (Though a little smaller than San Andreas from GTA San Andreas (no Vegas-Like area)). Visual Improvements: Significantly greater draw distance. Significantly better render quality when items do appear. Texture Work is of equivalent or slightly better quality than GTA IV. Framerates seem to be smoother overall comparatively as well (I do have GTA IV for PS3 as well) Interface Improvements/Changes Below radar is Health/Armor/Ability meters (50%/25%/25%) Health bar will be yellow when getting hit when above 50% HP, when getting hit below 50% HP it will be red, if below 25% HP it will be flashing red. Health regenerates back up to 50% if you do not take damage for a time. Gameplay Changes It is actually a lot less forgiving than GTA IV (I have died significantly more in this than I did in GTA IV even on the first go at that). Unmarked Cops Losing cops isn't as easy, in GTA IV and previous installments, you could just get going really fast to outrun the cops and then wanted level down. Wanted level takes MUCH longer to go away now, AND, you have to play the classic "Hide-And-Seek" game in order to lose them which is even harder when there's a chopper, that means hiding under overpasses, in narrow alleyways, turning off your headlights, ditching your car and all kinds of stuff, and while it's a bitch... it's actually a lot of fun too, I try to find my way into the sewers if I can. Oh, and if you are trying the "drive away really fast method" a cop will spawn at an intersection or key points on highways nearby and get right on your ass. You quite literally can't use that method. Driving Changes: About the same as GTA IV, but more responsive overall. Features Returned (From prior to GTA-IV): Rampage or Rampage Like missions Bicycles Buying Properties Car Customization Character Customization Features Added: Character skills/abilities Character stats (You can increase your driving ability, sprinting, shooting, etc just by actively using them, or practicing), before it was a non-descript arbitrary visual cue Mobile App (called iFruit), it allows you to train your dog, and customize vehicles and buy items. Items added (that can be done in the home): Drink Beer Blaze Story: So far, I have been entertained by it, the dialogue is pretty good, and I've laughed aloud a few times. Of course, the obvious item is: How does it compare to San Andreas? As entertaining a story, but a slightly smaller environment. The real truly "Obvious item" is: Is it fun? Short answer, yes, it's actually quite fun. I can also tell you I had a ton of fun crashing my blimp into Mount Chilliad and then failing to open my parachute while attempting to base jump from the mountain then being a careening rag doll down the mountain. I've updated this to include crew members, they may not have brbu names!

I really like the new system for escaping from cops, not to mention the readdition of buying properties, car customization, character customization, and all the other stuff you could do in San Andreas but not 4. Â I'm on PS3 as Eskatos, add me if you want to multiplay whenever that starts working.

I have (obviously) added those features I forgot to add to the lists. And added a name/gamertag list for people.

I wonder how they'll do online play, like max players.

I'll likely grab this on PS3 once there's been a chance for used copies to exist.

For example; Snakes on a Plane, absolutely horrible movie, I wouldn't recommend it in any form to anyone ever. I saw it in a cheap theater in an urban area... most entertaining movie going experience of my life. Harry Potter, only ever saw first two movies, didn't hold my interest, tried to read the books (multiple times) as my entire family loves them, and put them down, just couldn't get into them. To me, only a few good things came out of Harry Potter and all had to do with the movie adaptations, well done orchestral music, and interesting special effects. Also, Daniel Radcliffe was pretty good in Woman in Black, so I'm guessing growing up acting in harry potter helped him to a point in acting ability. Not sure whether it will be client/server, cloud server generation (most games are like this now), or what. But it is 16 max players.

Watched my roommate play it yesterday. It's pretty similar to GTA IV (which I enjoyed), except the map is way bigger. I'll wait until the PC release to pass any real judgement though, since the PS3 is pretty outdated by now... That, and mods...

friend is in the "friends and family" beta for gtao and says it's fucking amazing, with two minor negative points: character creation is "clumsy, like ugly clumsy" and races take a while to load. but other than that...

Found a odd bug, went to pull someone from a car but as soon as I touched the car, me & the npc switched places so I got thrown out of the car. o-o Also Trevor reminds me of Mr. Anthony DeMartino from Daria.

I must break a small portion of the no spoilers rules due to something I think is very important in property purchasing:
1: Do not buy any properties until you beat the main story. 2: Do not do the assassination missions until you beat the main story (marked as L usually franklin jobs) This lets you have a much much much larger money pool on all characters before assassinations in which you can invest in competitors of those you are about to take out. (I have yet to beat it, but I've made the mistake of NOT doing this so it'll take me some time before I can afford all the other stuff) The Bawsaq IS connected to Social Club HOWEVER in game events DO affect it. So it's worthwhile to do both when going through those. Hope this helps people's financial items. Also; small glitch: money case pickups can be exploited by swapping between characters rapidly. |
