I got a new lens for my camera. This telephoto lens is awesome. It's a 55mm-210mm zoom. I'll put some pics up from it tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk Woo hoo ACEN here I come. |

Huh, how is 500px? This is the first I've heard of it. I usually upload some random photos on Flickr since they have a huge community, and on Deviantart (but lol...dA...)
Edit: I took a look and the photos shared are all very quality Definitely signed up and have already gotten some feedback on a photo, loving the community so far! Definitely friendlier than Flickr. (I also added both of you) http://500px.com/JessLiu ask me about mpreg |

They brag about how little photos get uploaded and its kind of a fun challenge to set a bar for yourself as far as quality goes. People also look at other people's pictures far more frequently than any other site I've been on. My first couple photos got comments and likes almost immediately after posting and its been more or less like that since. A couple of mine have even reached popular status. It's really cool. |

It's not like there's any new tech that just came out to make this possible. Of course I'm not trying to imply that I could make it, but it just strikes me as odd that something like that hasn't been done very well yet. [/quote] I don't think camera stabilization is a very new idea, since Steadicam has been around for a while now. My very simple dSLR even has an image stabilization option. And maybe it's been done quite well...just expensive. It might be impractical to carry it around for a very long time and so will require a chest harness etc, and then it just goes back to being something like a Steadicam. I also think this is more of interest to filmmakers than photographers. It's actually not a huge challenge to take steady photos; the only big challenge (for me personally) is taking steady photos in low light. I like to use tripods for night photography. ask me about mpreg |

It's a little more complicated (tech-wise) than a steadicam, and a lot more flexible since the camera operator just has to hold onto the thing and not frame the shot himself.

oh it's definitely for film makers. I think atom just wanted to share what he found interesting and this was related enough. I just want to note here that gyroscopes are indeed interesting.

That's really the only amazing feature, otherwise it's just another active gyroscopic-stabilized gimbal. You should see the stuff I've used on ISR platforms. Think 170x zoom, target tracking, coordinate hold and gyro-stabilization which lets me read license plates on moving cars from miles away. |

I think steadicam just puts the sensor on a gyro or something. Pentax has a pretty good stabilizing system that moves the sensor and you can use it to take star photos without trails if you get the GPS addon thingee. It's pretty cool. |

A Steadicam is a mechanical, passive system. It's basically an articulated arm with a built in shock absorption system and the camera is mounted on a counter-weighted low-friction gimbal.
The arm is connected to the wearer with a large vest. They tend to be very heavy and shift your centre of balance. |

Spent afternoon yesterday taking pictures. I'm pretty happy with several. It's so damned hard to pick your best though. Here is two sets from yesterday after culling at least 50% of them.

Nothing too exciting, I take a lot of photos on my phone nowadays and I'm usually not happy with the results. http://kasetoast.tumblr.com/post/5566500...-bookstore I had some from 07042013 ask me about mpreg |

Those are pretty good ;D
I've been using instagram a lot lately because then I can use their editing instead of putting in time in post. I have some owl pictures I need to clean up though. |
