Pretty cool summary of different areas of cancer research relating to cannabinoids. Active ingredients in weed have anti-cancer properties in some cell types and in varying degrees, but there obviously needs to be more research done due to the variety of pathways that seem to be involved.

An important caveat of this is that any anticancer properties that cannabis may confer is probably offset if you smoke it. Burn pretty much everything at a low temperature, and you get all kinds of nasty incomplete combustion products, many of which are carcinogenic. Same idea behind scorched meat. So:

That's why the emphasis is on the oil extract of the plant. Smoking the stuff is the most crude way of getting the thc.
