In my experience (2 different schools), professors are real people (students seem to forget that) and understand that for their students, life will occasionally take a higher priority. Faculty also seem much more willing to give you a bye if you're a good student whose making the effort to get things squared away ahead of time. And if for whatever reason said professor takes themselves way too seriously and can't throw you a bone, there's always the option of going over their head and speaking with a dean, as most any dean can request said bone be thrown, albeit a bit more "firmly."

That's very true. And it's why I am planning to try to talk things out with the prof first. I've heard he's a really nice guy so I'm hoping he'll be amenable to it, since I'll be talking to him so early in the semester. Just wanted to give the thread a heads-up about my situation, sorry for the derail. ^^;

My wife and I plan on attending.  We may get Fonziebear and our friend Rob to join us.  Rob doesn't play TF2 (yet), but ACEN is relevant to his interests.  I'll have to talk to them about it, but I'm optimistic.  If TOH is having trouble filling his room, we could help.

Question: When it says you're staying Thurs-Sunday, does that include Sunday Night?  Or does that mean you're leaving during day on Sunday.

Updated up through here. Including the Hello Morico people, we have...a buttload. I increased my overflow capacity a bit, but it's looking like I won't be able to house all of the same people as last year, since I confirmed Claire and another college friend (handle "Dramatic Catastrophist"). I think she'll be doing a cosplay as well, we'll see.

1/1 I will go through and assign people into rooms, at that point any 'I dont know cause schedule' should be mostly resolved.

Well not exactly 1/1, but I plan on going through and doing preliminary room assignments, will post when updated.

A few things to note

- Please finalize your travel plans before the end of January, this lets us know if you are in or out. Depending on who your room-provider is, you may be on the hook after a certain date, please check with them to see how this will go.

For example - for my room, after the 31st of March I would like people to be locked in, after that date you will owe me $X, whether that is in cash/check at con, or paypal before hand.


- If you do not like something about your room assignment, or have some form of preference, please PM me. Do not post in the thread, PMs ONLY, and I will do what I can shuffling people around so you are or are not in the same room with someone else.


- We will tentatively have a planning meeting 1/12, 1/13, 1/19, or 1/20 - If you are one of the people whose name is on a room it will be manditory...well...highly recommended.


For the time being everyone who is on the headcount list will be assigned to a room, please confirm asap if you were tentative before hand

[/quote]If the station is the airport, public transit is an option. From O'Hare it's like one subway stop, from Midway I think you have to transfer once. I'd prefer to only run a taxi service for people who either can't carry their stuff because it's fragile or literally can't get to the hotel any other way (crazy ass bus stations in the middle of nowhere, looking at you Zaneyard)
