I saw a couple at D*CON, I got a picture of one of them but I kept forgetting to ask them how they did the backpack.

They were all either non-functional backpacks or a backpack someone coated with a fleece outer lining...

I am really hoping to make mine fully functional if possible. I have some ideas still.  I want to make one more test bag first though as the most promising one needed tweaking and I want to test it on a larger scale.

Did a larger test today. It looks good enough I think.

I did not add the velcro yet, nor any straps. I plan to do that later.

Of course once again the colors are just scraps. I just wanted to do a slightly larger scale. It works so far. I also did not iron it this time.

Now Caff has me wondering if I should try something more and do quilting layers on the inside and such. I will probably look into it at the store, see what the fabric costs and if I can afford to fool around with it and make mistakes.

Ok, socks and shoes. That's all I've got for now.

Started working on the skirt today.

Found the perfectly colored denim for it. I'm just trying to learn how to sew all this stuff on the fly... It's going... ok so far. I think I might be able to make it look half-decent if I don't fuck up in the mean time. But it seems to be going well.

Pictures later.

Make sure you use a zipper foot, I made the mistake of not using one the first time I did a zipper :o

I do have one, yes. Although I've done a zipper without one, and it came out... ok.

This one was much better. I hope the finished product looks ok, because I'm winging it based on an old pair of shorts that I tore apart.

Here is a better example of color, and the zipper part.

Struggling today with how to fit the skirt properly and how to actually sew it lol. Had some ideas I will try later.

Ok, here's what I've gotten so far.

It isn't hemmed, I just tossed a few pins in to try it on with the shirt, socks and shoes. I still have to make a waistband too.

Still need to lose more weight, obviously... but hopefully I won't look too derpy.

Once this is all done it'll be time to start on the backpack.

Please don't take this the wrong way HeK.

I'm not trying to score internet points here Luin, but I do recall much earlier photos, but you look great. With as much sincerity one can squeeze into text, you are fine. <3 <3

Great work on the outfit as well ;D

Sorry, lots of spam lately...

But just about done the bag! Only thing now is to buy a zipper for it. I wasn't going to, though maybe I'd use velcro or something, but at this point a zipper wouldn't be all that hard to add. And it would be sweet if I could actually keep stuff in there.

It sits exactly where I want it to, and generally is quite nice. I might have to stuff it with something during the day but I plan to maybe also get a yellow sweater like in this concept art, so I can keep it in there. I think I'm also going to make a plushie Cake, sort of.

Might even make my own hat, found a good pattern for that.

Backpack done. I def fucked up on the zipper. But it isn't terribly visible.

Now working on a Cake plush...
