Early impressions: fast and frantic and atmospheric at little to no performance cost.  I'm running high and FPS is excellent.  I'm glad they went the rage-zombie route.

Well, i've played about 3-4 rounds to completion and here's what I have to say.  The game looks great, the effects are stunning and it all runs smoothly hardware wise.  So far the director has lived up to it's purpose.  However, the matchmaking and available server pool leaves something to be desired.  At least half the servers I have connected too have been laggy or just straight up d/c'd me, and when I was using the Quick Play option to get some games, the matchmaking system kept setting us up with passworded servers.  Seriously? What. The. Fuck.  Anyways, there's still quite a few kinks left in the system but once those get cleared out and the full game is released, I can see myself spending quite awhile on this game, even without the VS. element.

-Fixed bug where servers could stay reserved by matchmaking forever
-Performance optimizations and fixes to networking layer
-Fixed issue where game could cause Steam executable to use too much CPU
-Fixed music resetting when changing video settings
-Fixed some issues with not being able to chat and/or connect to other users

and thank god. The first basically completely anhilated major problems with the matchmaker. (Which I'm starting to like a little now that more servers are coming up) Real easy to get up and go with a few friends.

Thank God. It's bad enough get 15 frames during intense fights of TF2. My computer doesn't break a sweat when 2 hordes of 30+ zombies break out on the screen.
