ACEN 2011

Managed to get a room for ACEN, which is May 20 - 22 in Chicago. Its the largest midwest convention (I think) at ~15,000 people. Rooms opened up at the beginning of October and I'm not sure how many are left, so if anyone has any inkling that they might want to come I would suggest getting a room now since you can always cancel up until the day before and still not pay anything.


However, you have to use this link to reserve a room, otherwise it will say the hotel is booked full.

I would recommend reserving a room as well, no idea how many people will come, but I know the rooms don't last long, and you can always cancel at no cost later

I mentioned it to Hek, I think you guys should reserve a room, if money situation changes go, if not just cancel the room.


Once the hotel fills, it will be impossible to get a room otherwise  :-\

Awesome. I'm going to try and make a demoman costume, but I need to plan it out and see if I'll be able to contruct everything with the limited resources I have at University as well as the limited time I have at home. I can assemble all of the clothing sans vest no problem. I have a basic idea of how I'll construct the vest--using a large and very thick sheet of foam, cutting a hole for the head, and folding that over my shoulders and making something for the sides and back collar. Then the black straps and grenades are another story. The grenade launcher I think I'm going to make out of wood & PVC; I figured out a mechanism to allow it to swing open ala reloading, but I don't think I can make it sturdy enough for that to be actually feasible. Plus I'd need a way to lock it shut.

use a normal hinge, then to lock it in place, get some strong magnets (HOW DO THEY WORK?!?!?!)


Just embed the hinge and magnets into the wood/PVC so everything is flush and you should be good to go.

Sure if you want, Im making a Gold costume in addition to the pyro I already have, make sure its Red Scout
