I have a large reading list for a summer english course.  So far I have read Pride and Prejudice. For some reason I actually liked it. It's the kind of book that doesn't really seem to appeal to most people (and, as this is a largely male audience it might not really appeal to anyone here, either) but I still really liked it.

Next is Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express", which I just read almost half of in about an hour. It's really good, at least so far. But nothing too special, it's just like her other novels thus far.

Others to read for this course include:

Danielle Steele's Bungalow 2
Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House
Stephen King's The Shining (already read this one years ago)
J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (read this one years ago too)
Louis Lamour's Sackett
2001 - A Space Odyssey
Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer Trilogy, volume one.

No, apparently the class is about what makes popular fiction popular. We're studying several different genres in an attempt to see why they are popular and what makes them tick. Oh I remember the other one I forgot to mention.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is exactly what it says on the cover. The original story is largely intact he just changed the backdrop to a zombie apocalypse.

Just finished, Dance Dance Dance by Haruki Murakami. I liked Kafka on the Shore better but it was very good and odd.
Also, anyone else read Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter? I liked it and learned more about our 16th President (WARNING: Does not apply to our Brothers and Sisters to the North, or Vongore).
