Okay, I don't have my own web space anymore, so I figure I'll just post stuff here. Anyway, I've been fiddling with classic games lately and my latest toy is fiddling with automatically generated custom maps for Doom II.
I decided to see how crazy impossible a map I could make...and yes, I can...quite crazy and quite impossible, you can *NOT* beat it unless you cheat. Anyway, requirements include a Doom 2 wad, and ZDoom (an open source, free Doom) There is no requirement for dosbox, or any other form of doom. http://www.easy-share.com/1909629433/zdoom.7z Unzip that file to any directory, click and drag "customwad.wad" onto zdoom.exe. If that does *not* work, choose the right click, open with (sometimes you have to hold shift) browse to and select zdoom.exe. It will ask you to choose an "iwad", choose the doom2 based one. Load up, choose "new game" and play this crazy crazy game. For those who want to cheat here are the only two codes you need IDDQD IDKFA And for those who want to generate their own auto-generated custom doom maps...go here http://oblige.sourceforge.net/ ALT+ENTER pushes zdoom to windowed mode. Caff, or ainmosni, or whoever, I wouldn't mind some upload access so I wouldn't have to use easyshare for this (it's only 7 mb!) Note: the doom2.wad included is the RETAIL doom2.wad, you shouldn't grab it if you don't have doom2...um...purchased... Update, it took me around 30 minutes to complete the level included in the zip.

I might throw together some multiplayer maps too, since zdoom supports multiplayer, it should be fun...
There is also zdaemon, but I think we'll stick to zdoom, make sure everyone has *THESE SAME WAD FILES* |

is that still in development? I only grabbed a doom based on the most recently updated doom software which was zdoom, plus zdoom has online multiplayer capabilities! >.<

I think i'll be going with the zdoom launcher for multiplayer stuff, but zdaemon is nice for server browser based things.

I remember when we had a Doom night for Serious Saturdays. That was awesome.

I'm going to remit my previous choice and point out skulltag is the best option right now.

Yeah I'm having too much fun, I decided to make a balanced and progressively more difficult campaign auto-generated, and here it is:
