Mass Effect 2 is perfectly fine without multiplayer. It's one of the games that is a defining singleplayer. Most other singleplayer games always have a multi tacked on for no reason. Mass Effect 2 just simply doesn't need it. Something like Dragon Age would be more suited to a multiplayer experience, in my opinion.

Pro Guide for getting everyone back alive, including Normandy crew:

Make sure all characters are loyal. Get them all loyal before you do the IFF mission.
Research all offensive and defensive upgrades for the Normandy before the IFF mission.
Now you're ready to do the IFF mission. After that, the only mission you should be doing is Legion's loyalty mission.
After that awesome part when you get to limp along as Joker, take the option to go directly after the team. If you did what's listed above, no one should die after the omega 4 relay.
The following is the members I selected for the final mission, there are some different ones that will work as well.
Send Tali or Legion into the vent.
Garrus as the second team leader on both occasions.
Send Mordin back with the crew
Jack to do the biotic barrier

It doesn't matter which two you choose to come with you at the final, as long as they're loyal they'll survive.

I sent Mordin back with the crew, he was loyal, he died. Jack did the biotic barrier, she survived. Had Legion do the vent, he died.

Had all loyal, Miranda lead the teams, Tali as vent, Jack as biotic, and Jacob escort the crew, everyone lived.

Just beat the game. All loyal, Legion in the vent, Miranda led the team both times (I roll with Garrus at all times), Grunt led the Normandy crew back, Samara did the biotic barrier and everyone survived.

I also blew up the Collector base and stuck it in Tali's pooper :-*

Also, slightly related, but did anybody else notice on the Quarian Flotilla when talking to the Vas Qwib Qwib guy that he thought about having a ship named the Defrens or Iktomi instead? Think about it.

Just finished my first playthrough. I definitely want to go for a second playthrough. Can't wait for ME3.

Also: Jack died (she was pissed at me, lol), Grunt died, and Zaeed died (but he deserved it anyways).

Going to start my next playthrough and be a total renegade.

Finally beat it. 42 hours not counting quick saves and playing the end in a bunch of different ways. Closer to 50 then. First time through had Zaeed and Legion die. Destroyed base. After that I just started playing. Got everybody to live and see what happens when you let the base stay. Nobody likes that decision. Won't use it for importing.

Edit: Played paragon.
Edit 2: Did another run at the ending from an earlier save. Managed to save the entire human crew. A bit annoyed the engineers had nothing funny to say after.

Finally finished it... Such a great game with a well thought out universe, can't wait for the third part.

Got through the last mission with only legion dying but that was probably because I chose the wrong fire team leader.

Now I want to play through 1 and 2 again as a male paragon. I played as a female renegade this time.

Just finished it Monday night. It was a thoroughly excellent experience. I'm planning on going through 1 and 2 again as a racist asshole.

Finished my second playthrough as a renegade vanguard. Everybody lived this time and I got to bang mirandaÂ ;D Really didnt have a good feeling about that creepy smile the Illusive man had while he was looking at the collector base schematic.

Yeah, but the 1,500 Geth programs inside of Legion would be dead. I don't think Legion backs those up. That would be like rebuilding Shepard, but not keeping his mind. You just have a body that looks like Legion, but won't necessarily act like him/them.

Well Legion doesn't really have any unique traits that it couldn't have if it was rebuilt.
