Hey brb.u, I've been looking for a headset recently. I'm taking suggestions, but I have some prerequisites...
Mic: I know you all want to hear my sexy Latin accent, so I'd like a clear mic that doesn't pick up on noise from the headset. Bonus points if it's detachable. Sound Quality/ Positioning: I know I can't have both, so I'm making this an either/or. However, both must be at least passable. Comfort: A big one. I haven't been able to play much recently, as many of you server regulars can attest, but when I do play, I play all day. Price: $150 is my max. Contenders: http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-audio/ra...racuda-hp1 http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-audio/razer-carcharias http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gaming-So...CCAT-Kave/ http://www.sennheiserusa.com/private_hea...oip_502141 Anything else you guys come up with. |

All I can really say is to also consider some Plantronics headsets. I've had 3 in my lifetime, and was satisfied with all of them (the first one died because some shit got spilled on it, the second one broke apart when I fell asleep wearing it, but still works as the internal wiring has thick insulation!). I'm sure Zaneyard would agree that the Gamecoms are all decent headsets. I can't say too much about your choices, other than to point out that shelling out $230 for the Sennheiser is probably overspending. Since all of the headsets you're choosing are circumaural (good choice), I'd strongly recommend getting one that has leather (or faux leather) padding. Fabric padding tends to get uncomfortable, collects dust, and--if you don't shower regularly or if you fall asleep wearing it--can get smelly. And nothing's suckier than a stinky headset.
EDIT: Also, I've always been wary about Razer's non-mice products because they're all very very overpriced (the mice only being very overpriced). As for quality though, I can't complain about their products too much, although I've had a defective refurb'd Lycosa keyboard and a Copperhead that shorted out at such inopportune moments that I raged out and tore out the cable.

I love my fatality one, it may be lower end than your choices though. But it has detachable mic, good quality, and super comfy.

I have a $30 Logitech one from Wal-Mart. It works, as evidenced by my glorious voice gracing all of your ears.

Only reason I got the .90's is because I needed an over-the-head set as opposed to the prior Plaintronics set I had, that was behind-the-head. |

But whenever given a setup for quality, ALWAYS use headphones/headsets. Much better quality and much less ear damaging. |
