Planetside Saturdays - 2009/17/1 - From the LAN

Not sure how this weekend is going to work, ShadowCast, MajorAsshole, Furio, and possibly Ertai will all be at a LAN together. Hopefully we'll all get on together and play, might take some convincing to get a few of the guys to play but if they don't want to play I guess they could do DOTA or something while we stomp TR/NC.

Not really sure what to do this weekend, bikes went OK for a while before they kind of fell apart due to the type of battle we were fighting at, rather than specify what kind of of thing we are going to do for the night we can try to do several things (mostly lulzy) depending on the battle and call it as we go. Here are a few general ideas, also for ease of recerting for those of you on a trial account I suggest the following, when we got to a continent, we stop at a biolab and you bind there. If you need to go and respec, bind at the closest AMS, then decon yourself to the biolab. Recert, then decon back to that AMS, quick and easy.

General Ideas:
Mass Flail Fire
Pajama Party (preferably with Heavy Assault)
Pajama Gal drops (in conjunction with party night)
Pajama BFR Hunters - Possibly Beamers + Jammers + TREK
Vanu World Police Night Or Defenders of Dagda (Camp any cont we own)
Ninja Spec Ops Night
Rolling Coffin Night (lightnings)


Things That we've done Good:
- Massed AV in mid size groups, rape shit fast
- Phantasm Vehicle Hunting
- Vehicle Columns
- Ending Battles, whether they be towers or bases
- Not releasing to respawn

Things we need to do better:
- Grouping together (I feel like its trying to herd cats sometimes  )
- How to get from point A to point B
- Getting from point A to B faster
- Higher battleranks (If you subbed, try playing during the week a day or two, ANTs, AMSes, and AA Maxes are good ways to get XP fast)
- Cert Diversity (symptom of not having high BR, we especially need a few more people with MAX units)

For this weekend I say cert in whatever you feel comfortable with and we'll play it by ear, hopefully we'll be able to easily adapt to changing conditions. Also plan on starting shit on another continent, either via a base drain or direct hacking incursion.

Fun in this game increases exponentially with the more people that join up so I hope to see more of the people that stated they were interested in the initial thread to come out, the game is FREE, but you are restricted to 14 days after which you will have to start all over again. If you get "suspended" or banned since the trial accounts are loopholes just make another one. Conversely you can spend $20 to pick up the game at direct2drive, which comes with a free month, this allows you to keep your character instead of having to re-level someone every 2 weeks.

If you want to cert reaver feel free to do so, I don't think enough people really know how to fly well enough to do them enmasse again, though that one night too we only had like 8 - 10 people as well too.

If someone's willing to give me a crash course before hand I'll cert for aircraft and fly around for awhile... assuming I come out again.

Not only are aircraft hard to use, they take up a ton of certs, so you can't do a whole lot else.  If a few of you want to fly in support of ground units that's OK, because you're going to get the shit owned out of you in air to air, so just let me take care of enemy planes >=o.

Actually a good strategy since most of us would suck ass in dogfights, or what passes for dogfights in PS, tap an aircraft and start to fight, then run to a nearby marked place on your map with Skyguards and AA maxes, just make sure not to lock on until he is too close to break away and run.

Now that I'm part of the standing army, it is not so easy to recert. So I'm keeping my main Anti-Vehicle Rexo Medic build (since ghost ship drops or grunting always seem to come up) with a vehicle (currently BUS), and my Alt with Assault Buggies (which I could sub for MAX if I knew in advance).

I'm a main offender at getting from A to B, but it's tough to memorize all these maps in just a month.

So I just found out there is going to be a Planetside promotion that pits users of The Escapist, Boing Boing, and Rock Paper Shotgun against eachother.  The only place with anything official on this yet is The Escapist I think, and I know they will be TR.  I know there are some sort of special signup keys they'll be giving out and special awards you can get in game too.  I hope RPS gets Vanu, because I'd totally kick ass for them.
