Spent the last 2 hours completely redoing my iptables firewall shenanigans on kirby420.com because I've been building it little by little since I got the box, and it was a massive clusterfuck of doing things like 5 different ways, really inefficient.

So I get it all re-scripted, now blocking every CIDR assigned to both China and Russia, because the only traffic I ever see from either is port/vuln scans. I even included a caveat for the stupid w00tw00t.at.ISC.SANS.DFind scanner that occasionally pops up.

I'm a little overzealous at times, so I opt to have iptables block any IP address that hits the server with that scan for a total of 1 month, so if a scanner checks my web server for the vulnerability, any traffic coming from that IP after that is simply dropped, for a whole month, or the server is restarted. (Unlikely)

Then I proceed to run the scanner from home against kirby420.com, to ensure that the filter is working as it should.



It does!



At least now I can go get some dinner. (Which is why this is in made my day, not FML. I'm farking starving.)



And bring my laptop so I can find some un-secure WiFi and SSH back into the server and remember to re-write the rule that explicitly accepts any traffic to the SSH port, so I don't end up accidentally locking myself out of the server from a slight oversight.
