You have to buy it, but when you do you get a free month. I'm not sure how much it costs TBH but I think its available on D2D.

edit: yup, $20. So $5 + the cost of a month's sub.

once you own it, you can use timecards from then on out.

I'm pretty sure you don't have to buy the game and you can use a timecard or whatever with the "trial installers" just fine.  I believe that's all Rummy ever did (of course he subbed off the website) but I don't think he ever bought the game?

I'm oldschool, I bought it in a box and still have the CDs. Although I've only installed and repatched twice ever, since I just keep my whole install directory and copy it over to new computers ;x

This is absolutely correct, found it out when it wouldn't let me add my purchase to my old account.  SOE are dicks that made it really hard to take my money.

I am glad I purchased it, even though I could have saved $5 and kept testicusmaximus if I just bought a month card.

If you already have an account through trial you can just buy the month cards and add the code to the account.  So do it and be there.  It's a great fun game.

Seriously though, while the other MAX units are useful, none of them are fun like the Vanu ones without the jump jets.

NC special ability is the shield, if you have the shield and the personal shield implant, it takes FIVE fucking decimators to take one down, the sparrow and starfire are comparable in their abilities, but the scatmax FAR outclasses the quasar, its not even fucking close.
