This thread prompted me to buy the game as if it were a pack of Dentyne Ice. I might ask to join y'all eventually.

I tried FA and I am not that impressed with it. Maybe I'm just too used to the old interface.

Where were you? We missed you. I'm really sorry about the constant disconnects. I'm gonna troubleshoot in the forums and try to fix it. I suggest that next week we play with the Forged Alliance expansion and start at 7 instead of 8. |

We should do Starcraft instead... It'll be more accessible to people and in my opinion, more fun.

I've played both SC and TA heavily (SupCom is basically TA revamped) and to be honest I'd prefer SupCom. I can't stand zerg rushes. Also SC is too much based on how fast you can build and attack SupCom is far better at pacing although its a lot longer. You really have to manage your economy and build your bases effectively so its not just about sending troop rushes like SC is. edit: I also like to sit around and build a wicked awesome base and then just attack when I get bored, this gets me trounced in SC way too often but I stand a chance in SupCom.

If you wanted a crazy match, have the no rush rule be somewhere around 15-30 minutes. SupCom is easier to turtle in, thats why you have a chance in it, you turtly turtle you. |

[/quote] You're right in a sense that it's not "easy" but I think "practical" is a better word. It's more of a legitimate strategy then it would be in starcraft. There are tons more options for turtlers in supcom, such as artillery striking the hell out of your opponents without ever leaving your base. |

...if you are bad at the game
Or you play a REALLLY REALLY bad ruleset. For instance, word of advice (in FA, as SupCom doesn't let you restrict units+buildings): Never play a game where Air+Navy+Game Enders+Experimental Units+Nukes+Teleport are all disabled (aka Land wars only), with X2 resources enabled and the game mode set to Annhilation (you have to destroy everything) on a Land+water map. NEVER. Last time I did that, 3 hours passed by with me and my impenetrable wall of defense, with the entire enemy team eventually just dropping. Even if they DID destroy my defense and main base, I wouldn't of lost simply because I had a stealth+cloaked Cybran Commander (which means he is impossible to detect in Line of Sight and by radar, only Omni Radar or close proximity of another commander can find him) sitting in the far reaches of the water with a torpedo upgrade. Which means, the only thing they could send at me would be sonar platforms that happen to have torpedo's attached to them. And that's IF they manage to find me as the only units in the game that have Omni radar (and can see through radar stealth) would be the T3 Omni radar (which has a limited range that I was out of), other commanders, Galactic Collosus's (which were disabled), and T3 Air Scouts (which were disabled). And because Navy was disabled, they would of had to of built T3 sonar platforms as UEF, as they have torpedo's. |
