If you have two teams of equal skill the infected should win if they all hit at once, maybe not the first time, but it should whittle them down enough for them to win

I will somewhat agree to that, seeing as you can manipulate infected spawns to have three hunters and a smoker a very well coordinated team can take out the survivors in one fell swoop. Luck still factors in though, and an equally skilled survivor team would know all the likely attack points anyways.
