Pie's Adventure Sphere Cosplay

I'm going to re-purpose Space Core and convert it into a Rick. Ordered some parts today. I'll be looking for general feedback when I wrap the project for Otakon. Right now, the only thing I'm really concerned about is how to secure the hat and how much the hat is going to conceal the Core.

Do any of the more experienced con goers think that the Prop department is going to object to the whip?
Just as gravy, any ideas on how to get the core to emit a noticeable but mild green glow?
