Possible Cooling Solutions - cbre88x - 06-23-2008
Alright guys. My 8800 GT runs 60-80 Celsius and I'm planning on getting this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103228 cpu maybe around the holidays. I need to know the proper cooling solutions to make sure I don't completely fuck up my build in progress. My brother did talk to me about this solution..

The issue with that is once you've got the oil in, you really can't do much of anything else to your system.
Also, you usually still have to cycle the fluid through somewhere to cool it; it will heat up eventually, just not for a while. And then, it takes forever to cool back down.

I run a 8800GT and mine idles around 45-55 during games. I have a e6750 with stock cooling and that idles around 30s. I have no other cooling except case fans and fans on my card and heatsink. So it might be your case? Iono much about computers so someone correct me if I'm wrong.

60-80 does sound a bit hot now that I think about it. What temp does your cpu usually run at? Does your motherboard have a feature to warn you (and subsequently shutdown the computer) if the temperature on your cpu gets too high? I would just do that and go with stock heating solutions for now (as long as you're not overclocking).

I don't overclock, but I don't have any warning systems setup..mainly because my cpu wouldn't run that hot anyways (a 1.9 dualcore is what? like a 25W CPU?). I just want to get a new case and invest in new cooling so I can upgrade without a worry.
Also, that heatsink looks pretty wicked Scotty.

Unless you have a completely shit CPU right now I'd hold off a bit. The new AMD Phenom will be out by the end of '08, and Intel's competition for it should debut around the same time, I'm thinking. It's not going to be as big an update as when they whip out "Bulldozer" for '10, but it's sure to be significant.
