So, after completely failing at doing Link for ACEN, I'm moving on to this. I have no issues making any of the outfit, but the bow will be the challenge for me.
Baseline Ref
Here I'd like to outline all the steps I'm going to take to make this happen and this time I'm not going to purchase a single shred of fabric or other supplies until I have the bow the way I want it...
Basic Construction - Due to how thin the bow is and the need to thread electronics through it, I will be using just a PVC pipe bent to shape, hidden in the grip I would put the battery pack, an LED, and transformer for the EL wire, as well as a PVC screw-joint to break the bow down to fit in a suitcase.
Basic sketches
Steps:
- Create rudimentary sketches of bow shape, size, circuit
- Make full-scale relief out of cardboard
- Get Supplies
- Cut relief into particle board, this will be used to help bend the bow into shape
- Join PVC pieces to joints, screw together and fill with sand, cap
- Heat PVC with heat gun, bend against particle board, clamp in place (Worried here about odd angles if it decides to bend up or something
- Drain PVC, fill lower half with expanding foam with room to spare for battery pack
- (if necessary) create a small box on the top end of the bow with wonderflex for the transformer, we will mask it with the ornate carving and clay later, also for helping stuff excess EL Wire into
- Sand PVC lightly
- Apply Adhesion promoter
- Cut reliefs of top, middle (some) and bottom ornate parts, bevel edges with dremmel
- Epoxy reliefs to PVC
- Bulk ornate parts with Apoxy Sculpt, sand
- Cut/grind/drill part for gem + led in grip
- Prime
- Create wiring circuit, test light
- Paint, Rub & Buff, seal
- Affix Gem
- Insert wiring + button (drill hole in grip above threads)
- wrap grip with pleather
- Sew the rest of the outfit because that's what I'm actually good at

- PVC Pipe - Outer Diameter 1.25"
- PVC Screw Joint - Outer Diameter 1.5" (should be the same?)
- PVC Joining Compound
- 2-Part Epoxy
- Particle Board
- Apoxy Sculpt
- Soldering Iron + Compound
- Adhesion Promoter
- Paint
- 2x Single AA battery Pack
- Wire
- Glass Gem
- 3v LED
- EL Wire + Transformer Pack
- Button Switch
- Sand
- Bow bending at odd angles
- Fucking up the wiring
- Apoxy Sculpt or paint not properly adhering
- Unable to break down later easily
Anything I'm leaving out or should include? Looking to get started next weekend.

All plumbing pipes are measured by their inside diameter. Different schedules have different wall thickness. Keep that in mind when buying fittings otherwise you'll end up with mismatched parts.
PVC requires a primer before the cement as well.
