Anime Detour '13 - kaese - 01-12-2013 I'll be attending this one and I know a few others from brbu are also attending. I'm just curious what cosplays everyone is planning on wearing! I'm taking a bus up to the twin cities so I'm quite limited in space to the amount of cosplays I can pack. Therefore it would be nice to wear something from the same series/game etc as my friends. I'm currently thinking about bringing my BLU Sniper w/Hunstman and Danger Shield or Ada w/big ass crossbow. Then maybe Kaiba since he's easy to pack. Re: Anime Detour '13 - CaffeinePowered - 01-12-2013 Kyuubey, Red, Ruby most likely Re: Anime Detour '13 - CaffeinePowered - 03-11-2013 Only a few weeks till detour....5 weeks to go and still so much to do... Re: Anime Detour '13 - [fr31ns]Karrde - 03-11-2013 Not even costuming, too much work to do. Also I get to go to a baptismal at noon on sunday. Boourns. Re: Anime Detour '13 - kaese - 03-11-2013 I don't regret sweatshop-ing all of my winter break. Also unsure whether or not to enter in Journeyman or Master... I haven't exactly won 3 "best" awards at the Journeyman level yet and I would assume "best Master" at a small con like Geekkon would be considered a Journeyman level for a much larger con. Re: Anime Detour '13 - [fr31ns]Karrde - 03-12-2013 Yeha you'd be fine running as a journeyman if you'd like. Also since it's partially my show, I say it's fine that you run as a journeyman XD Re: Anime Detour '13 - CaffeinePowered - 03-12-2013 Quote:Karrde link=topic=6716.msg263317#msg263317 date=1363086884] I put my app in, entering Kyubey as Masters, the only thing I wasn't sure on was a "Skit" or "Walk-On", was planning on it being a short monolog, though the 30sec hard limit for a walk on is too short...I don't imagine it would be longer than 45 sec though... Re: Anime Detour '13 - kaese - 03-12-2013 I think I'll do a "walk-on" but prepare some sort of music backing for it so it's not just me walking on stage, twirling, and walking off. and journeyman it is! I'm planning on buying a few at acen hehe. Detour was alright, I actually didn't get to see the con in its entirety. I didn't attend any panels or things like that. It was nice seeing familiar faces and meeting new people though, which was basically why I decided to go to this con. The con staff was incredibly nice and helpful with the exception of Karrde. jk jk <3 you Karrde, thanks for picking up my lost dildo bullet. As for the masquerade, my friends and I disagreed with the judging and the distribution of the specific awards. This is all personal opinions and whatnot so I won't go into it here. I actually didn't expect to win anything with the costume that I entered for fun so I am not particularly upset, but I don't think I will be returning to the Detour masquerade in the future with a more serious costume. One thing I did like a lot of the masq. was the timely manner in which things got done and it all seemed very organized. The con suite is a great idea. Every con should have an emergency food & drink station. The TF2 room party was pretty rad. Overall con experience: 7/10 Final comment: Fix your weather Re: Anime Detour '13 - CaffeinePowered - 04-22-2013 http://www.brbuninstalling.com/gallery/index.php/Anime-Detour-2013?page=1 All my pics from the con Quote:As for the masquerade, my friends and I disagreed with the judging and the distribution of the specific awards. I know several staffers better than you and get a bit of candid feed back, nothing super specific but I know both years Ive come within "a few points" of taking a category. Its something about the masquerades up there, not just at Detour, but at Convergence as well. Its rare that I'll agree with the judges at those cons, but I usually agree with decisions at the other cons I go to. I might give it one more go next year depending on what costume(s) I have ready. Id highly recommend entering the hall contest at ACEN, I will be entering Red for the last time there into it as well as Kyubey. |
