Re: First Post... - Totla - 01-01-2011

Everything is still exactly the same and it always will be and nothing will ever change.
Happy one orbit around the sun day.

Re: First Post... - Duck, Duck, Goose - 01-02-2011

It's actually Year-Day-Month

Re: First Post... - Squishy3 - 01-02-2011

i'll see you all in 2012

Re: First Post... - Benito Mussolini - 01-02-2011

Why wouldn't it be year-month-day?

It's easier to sort stuff: you sort by the year first, then month, then day...

Why do we write the time hh:mmConfuseds? For the same damn reason. If you would like to write it day-month-year, you might as well go for seconds:minute:hour day/month/year.

Oh hey it's 49:46:02 02-01-2011.

Edit: made a graph to illustrate this:

Re: First Post... - Versus - 01-02-2011

year is too big and changes too little (as in, not often)

Re: First Post... - Benito Mussolini - 01-02-2011

The whole numerical system is made from big to small.

You still write $3,512,486  even if millions barely change compared to dollars.

(01-02-2011, 12:50 PM)Versus-pwny- link Wrote: year is too big and changes too little (as in, not often)

This is actually why you write it year first. You want to sort the date by whatever changes rarely first; otherwise, everything gets mixed up.

Re: First Post... - Versus - 01-02-2011

that makes sense, but i feel like the reason for not having years first is the same reason why we don't have dates added on to every chat timestamp (2011:1:2:16:12:52)
