my video card just gave out today so im having to use the onboard video but it doesnt allow me to play tf2 or anything else does anyone have any sugestions "other then buying a new card i dont have the money"  any sugestions or fixes would be greatly apreciated

What errors were you getting with your video card prior to it not working?

Weird polygons?

Bluescreens?

Crash to desktop?

'This Display Driver has stopped working'?

Re: damn device failure - tracedarkwind - 11-30-2009

computer would go to wierd color pixles then go back to the screen looking like it was a runny painting and then today it wont show anything at all ends up just flashing a couple thin lines  that flicker will not work at all now using the onboard card which sucks lol

Is your card passive cooling or does it have a fan?

has a fan yes the fan is still working i even made sure that it wasnt full of dust or debri

Re: damn device failure - CaffeinePowered - 11-30-2009

Might want to take it apart and apply new thermal paste, but thats about all i can offer for suggestions, because it could be fried

Re: damn device failure - tracedarkwind - 11-30-2009

dont have any thermal paste but you would think if it was cool it would at least show the screen when you first turn on the computer instead of not showing anything

Re: damn device failure - KarthXLR - 11-30-2009

not sure what to say to that. And again, if the card won't even turn on, it's a big possibility that it's dead. Not much else of a choice other than buy a new one.

Re: damn device failure - tracedarkwind - 11-30-2009

yeah thats my problem i cant buy a new one i is broke about as bad as my vid card

What mfr did you get it from?  EVGA has lifetime warranties if I recall.  I know I still got my BFG 6600GT replaced when it died like 3-4 years after I got it originally.
