they already said bow only pins corpses...

we should throw this up on one of the servers once the update hits in a few days, map is gold: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/45471

The Huntsman entry implies otherwise.  And I seriously hope that the implied effect is there, otherwise the Huntsman will be more of a nerf than anything.  Sure, the rifle takes longer to charge, but you can get much farther away and be much, much safer.

it doesnt matter if they implied that, if you learn to read the blog they made a second post almost immediately after where they said that it doesnt have that effect (backlash from sandman much?)

Quote:No, the Huntsman doesn't stun. It pins dead/dying players.

Dying, as in still alive.  I assume that if you were alive and pinned, you could still fire weapons.  At least, I hope.  I still think that otherwise, the Huntsman wouldn't be very useful.  It'd just put you in harm's way.

Let me hold on to my twisted, ill-conceived hope.

Re: TIMS SNIPER UPDATE MEGATHREAD BOOOURNS! - Maxon - 05-15-2009

It's simple. The Huntsman doesn't stop living people in their tracks like Sandman would.  There is no "if".  It won't...it'll stick people who are dead or people that the shot kills to a wall, but they won't be alive and struggling to get off the wall.  It's not "Sandman #2".  I think the Sandman caused the most rage of any update and it's not something they want to repeat, I'm sure.

I think the weapon itself will be beneficial for those that want to move up into the action and aren't quickshot gods like a few out there.  I assume with the faster charge, it means for faster firing, which is the benefit there, not too mention allowing full speed instead of cutting movement down when scoped.

You guys are right, no matter how much I wish otherwise.  *sigh*

But... ugh, in that case it might go the other way.  Boom, you're shot, boom you're shot, boom you're shot, with the sniper becoming a hopping, dodging instant kill machine.

:o

Not sure it will be that bad, but no ones knows how it is handled, the reload speed, the fire speed, if it arches at a certain distance, etc...It's all assumption till it's out...Except for sticking people to walls alive. That we know is false XD

That was sort of what I meant, although I'm a bit too inarticulate to express it properly.  It would be both cool and a double edged sword, though, if that happened.  That extra second or so before death might give them time to launch a salvo your way that would take you out with 'em.

This new sniper update hurts my head.  I can't wait to see it roll out so all the features can be defined totally and completely.

Also, anyone heard about the decloaking spy in the background of the Razorback picture?  Apparently it showed up twice today, according to Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

I was calling bullshit till I read the update of him showing up again and that it was more substantial and not a hoax by a few people.  To have this become a Spy double update or something would be mind blowing to do or maybe give a teaser.

*EDIT*
I was reading the forums and someone brought up the idea that it could be teasing the "Meet the Spy" video which would be awesome.

The SMG is the same as the needlegun or revolver, useless when flailed. However, the sniper counters (spies, scouts) go down quick and easy if you actually aim the thing, and now these morons will have no real ranged weapon against the spy/scout shooting them down from outside the kuri range. Because seriously, if they are using this thing, they are NOT good enough to snipe at close range.

Basically, a useless update for anyone who wanted inventive unlockables for the Sniper, and a boon to everyone else. I had hoped that I could start playing Sniper more often, but with this, I'm done with that idea.

I'm pissed about how it specifically targets what's supposed to be it's counter. Seriously, out of all the Snipers I've killed maybe 2 actually use the SMG, maybe the rest don't fall into the category of "Too shitty to point black with the Sniper Rifle but not dumb enough to Kukriflail". It seems kind of silly giving stupid people more ways to be stupid. May as well have the Sniper's melee weapon be a fork and a plugged in toaster.

Just give them the plugged toaster.
There are enough maps with water out there to make this a potent weapon against idiots.

updates target retards. natasha, backburner, FaN, sandman. why does this surprise people?

also the shield is worthless. you see it? 2shot the sniper with the revolver point blank. it takes a second longer than a stab.

Unless they have a different definition of dying than I do, dying means not dead, which means you're still in control but pinned.

I do hope I'm wrong about that though, as pinning corpses is always fun. Only thing that made the "should've been fun but was a buggy mess" Painkiller worth playing. ^_^

I bet dying just means that if the arrows damage would kill you, you get pinned.  Maybe there is some bleedout damage as well?

let me refine
dead means, im shooting at something that is already dead. it will stick to the wall. im not being useful
dying means, when my arrow hits this guy in the head, he will be dead. he will stick to the wall.

It's probably just like the crossbow from Half Life 2.

Better not be. Annoying as all hell to burn to death, but at least you have a chance to do something about it.
