You can honestly get through the main campaign in a day if you're dedicated and skip all the side missions. Most of them are sort of cookie cutter anyways: Travel to remote planet, land on surface, get raped by retarded terrain features, enter one of three different designs of bases, kill some people and get a journal entry. Herpderp.

it might be worth his time since its a first play through and they have (cosmetic) changes to the storyline in ME2
