Re: Beer Thread - Surf314 - 06-08-2008 Hey now, this is the beer thread. You winos get your own thread . Re: Beer Thread - cannedpeahes - 06-08-2008 I think it goes in and out of beer mode too much. We were talking about Islays on page 3. I have a feeling we'll be hitting on Jenkems somewhere around page 12. I make up for that by keeping a bottle each of Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet on hand (trust me, it's hard as hell to get good wine when you're *ahem* my age, and everybody thinks you're weird for it).
Used to be big on merlot but damn do I hate wine hangovers. I would rather drink massive amounts of beer and shots and feel shitty the next day than to have the massive headache that comes with a wine hangover.
I never had a wine hangover in my life and I'm a huge wine drinker.... Maybe something to do with the quality of the wine? Maybe something to do with the quality of the wine? It sure does. It's the sulfites in most American wines. Re: Beer Thread - Aerox - 06-09-2008 Yeah, typically the redder and heavier the wine, the worse the hangover. The absolute worst hangover I've ever had in my life came from when I did a tasting at a wine bar and chose their "Monster Red" selection. It was about 5 half glasses. I didn't even get drunk, but woke up in the middle of the night vomiting and with the worst headache of my life. It was worth it. I love wine. Re: Beer Thread - A. Crow - 06-10-2008 I just picked up a couple bottles of this Jesus Effing Christ. Re: Beer Thread - Surf314 - 06-10-2008 (06-10-2008, 08:09 PM)A. Re: Beer Thread - ScottyGrayskull - 06-11-2008 While I was in Ottawa over the weekend I took a bit of time and picked up a flat of my sweet, sweet Boddington's: Whino in beer hat not included. Re: Beer Thread - Surf314 - 06-16-2008 Leffe is really good, so is Ommegang. Also had some berry weiss that was quite good for a fruity beer. Ommegang is quite cheap, but is rather hit or miss. If you get a chance to get their Hennepin on draught, that there is a pretty fair forgery of a belgian. Re: Beer Thread - Surf314 - 06-23-2008 I tried Black Toad earlier and would heartily recommend it. It's a dark beer made with roasted hops so it has a smoky flavor almost like coffee. Also it is surprisingly not bitter for a dark beer, which is great for me because I don't like beers that are too bitter. Also I said earlier how much I like Blue Moon, well their summer brew Honey Moon is fan-freaking-tastic. It's definitely not a manly beer, but it is quite refreshing for a change of pace. It's very light and brewed with honey and orange peel. Not too sweet, not too bitter it's just right. Re: Beer Thread - NiceGuy - 06-23-2008 If any of you are within driving distance of here (http://www.hofbrauhausnewport.com/beer.html), try the Adulterator. BEST. BEER. EVER! End of thread. Seriously. Re: Beer Thread - copulatingduck - 09-06-2008 I liek Dogfish Head, Sierra Nevadda Pale Ale, and Newcastle. Oh, and good hefeweizens, but fuck if I remember what all ive had tonighrt. :] Also, I am the coolest person to bump this thread in the last 2 months. >:] Also, niceguy sucks cuz he is still in ching-chong-land across the ocean.
