i tried hosting one last night and it was good for me , but versus was being a whiny bitch.
rumsfald observed that it got a bit chuggy when it was spawning hordes of zombies (cpu bottleneck)

The Grey Wolves server has been up and running well. We did 8 man Versus the other day with no problems. I'll get the IP and post it here so that you guys can direct connect to it if you want. We're server admin noobs so we're still setting it up, but hopefully we can add preferred slots and such as time goes on.

Can you associate your server with one of our steam groups as well? I posted the group # for brb4dead somewhere. Someone invited me to the group lotus and they have a shit-ton of servers up.

What are the greywolves running and are they happy with it?
$16 is $4 more than the other....but they offer a 4 mans for $8 which the other does not. Maybe we should do a 8 mans with the first company and a 4 mans with that one and then when our initial investment runs out pick the best company for longer term.
That'd be $20 a month? Hmm but that one doesn't seem to do clan pay or anything so....I dunno?

Well, the server is gone now
.I just spoke with Slick - he got tired of the L4D server system and felt like he was wasting money paying for it. His gripe was that there was no really easy way for everyone to just get on our server and play together. He also felt there weren't enough controls built in to easily change rotations and game types, etc.
He told the company last night that he was discontinuing it.

I went ahead and ordered a server from Gameservers.com.Â
It's $12/month for an 8-man PRIVATE server. It must remain passworded at all times. I will let you know when it's set up and will provide the password for the GW and BRB guys. I'll also give RCON access to the GW guys, and any BRB guys you feel can handle it.
Since it's passworded that means once it's set up as a Steam Group server theoretically only we can play on it, so we should have no problem in always having a server available for us. Between GW and BRB we should be able to field an 8 man Versus game pretty easily.

sorry to hear slick got burned on his server, but you're right most of the time with a public server you're paying for other people to play. It's not like they actually give a shit which server they're on.
for the chimp cage© It will be a wait and see approach, but my inital thoughts are we should see if we can get that one consistently full between the two groups , makin it worth the money, and if so , then we(BRB) could kick in some cash to extend that servers lifespan.
or , if the server is too busy and peeps cant get on we could spring for a #2 (probably from gameservers , since priv is cheeper)

It does add, just won't show until you switch to the favourites tab of the in-game server browser.

Yes, this is correct.
to repeat in case you are as dumb as I and didn't get it on first try....
...If you add servers to favorites via desktop Steam app, you WILL NOT see the servers
...But, if you lauch L4d and type "openserverbrowser" in console you WILL SEE these on the favorites tab.
