Today, I went out to the local costume shop and bought some nose-making materials.
After spending several hours getting to know the stuff I'm working with, I finally made a nose I'm happy with:

I'm terribad at taking pictures of myself, hence...half my face being cut off. And the nose is not actually attached to my face in the picture so the edges are not blended in.
I am currently struggling with getting makeup to stay on the liquid latex layer, but I suspect it might be the type of foundation I am using. More experimentation! And more staring at Alan Rickman's nose for hours.
For those who are interested in trying their hand at making their own prosthetics, here are the materials I used and a general guideline:
Mehron Modeling Wax/Putty: The stuff you use to make your prosthetic. It becomes pliable after kneading it for a few seconds. It's very tacky so you'll need to clean your hands frequently. I recommend shaping the wax into the general shape of what you want before sticking it on your face.

Mehron Spirit Gum: This helps the wax stay on your face. Apply a thin coat to the area of attachment, then dab with a finger until it feels tacky. Gently apply some cotton ball fibers onto the area to help the wax attach more securely.

Ben Nye Spirit Gum Remover: This helps to remove the spirit gum from your face. Self explainatory.

Ben Nye Liquid Latex: Liquid latex seals the wax and allows for you to apply makeup on it. Apply one thin coat at a time. (Smells bad and stings the eyes...)

agreed thanks for the how to , ive always wanted to do a good zombie costume for halloween but i wanted to make some sick looking bitemarks / flesh spots. that stuff looks like it would fit the bill

Yea, the modeling wax is great for wounds/scars. Liquid latex is also used by a lot of people for the light scarring/burned skin effect since it shrinks on the skin.

Finally got around to making that wand today. It's boring looking and not very straight (and I think it looks more wobbly in the picture than it actually is in real life).

I haven't sealed the paint in yet, hopefully the topcoat will give it a nice shine.

Also, Rigid Collodion is great for scars, especially inverted ones (think Squall and Seifer from FF8)

so yeah i'm kinda not going to school this fall so i might be able to go to this thing
pretty sure i'm going to go. my buddy who lives in madison is going to go (i'm pretty sure he saw eightball last year as demoman) if pre-reg ends today so i'm just going to pay at the door if i end up going five bucks isn't a big deal.
i'll keep checking this for updates on meetups and shit.

To answer, yes; Caff and I both have double rooms reserved. So far it's looking like Karrde and Caff will be in room #1 for the entirety of the con while my girlfriend and I are in room #2 similarly. Kirby is coming for one night so he's crashing in room #1. Still waiting to hear if Kase/Scar want to take up the opportunity to stay in the hotel since they both live in the area. If no one else decides to room with us I might switch it to a single room (one bed). Let me guys know what you decide on :v

No, I'm pretty sure there will be space for you; just a question of who goes where. In ACEN we usually went 4 to a room, and we have at most 8 people at this con.
