They used to allow sponsors (ie: goons sponsoring non-goons) then they stopped that shit due to spies.

Even if you're in SA it's usually ridiculous to get into GF. I probably couldn't get in now, and I was a previous member.

Same. Although I do not think it is terribly difficult to get back in if you are a previous member, a few friends of mine went back to the game and they had no issues having been gone for over a year.
