Re: ACEN 2013 Travel & Accommodations Thread - The Generic Name - 11-07-2012 I do want to say I am coming to this. I would probably show up Friday, leave Sunday. I will need to catch a ride from a fellow Wisconsinite, or anyone coming through Milwaukee. If that cant happen, then I can take the bus down to the Airport again. I should be okay financially. Depending on my Spring schedule, I may just contact my teacher(s) and come down on Thursday instead. I do need a room. Re: ACEN 2013 Travel & Accommodations Thread - Eightball - 11-07-2012 Updated up to this point. We'll accept people's intention to attend as enough for registration here, since no one can really guarantee their attendance beyond a shadow of a doubt. I was expecting a greater flood of registrants though, poke people to post here! I'll be trying to get a handle on my college friends (some of you remember Claire, plus possibly a couple more this time) Re: ACEN 2013 Travel & Accommodations Thread - Dtrain323i - 11-07-2012 (11-07-2012, 11:03 AM)Eightball link Wrote: (some of you remember Claire, plus possibly a couple more this time) That's like hunting with bait. Dibs on a spot in Party Cat! ;D Re: ACEN 2013 Travel & Accommodations Thread - Silenteidolon - 11-09-2012 So, my "ladyfriend" kinda got a little overzealous and started posting all over Facebook about how she's going to Acen this year and apparently had a wave of people asking "Can I ride/room with you?". These are all people I don't directly know myself and I've told her strictly that I can't speak for the group in allowing outside people to just waltz in come that Thursday and that any extra guests have the lowest priority. At the moment she has two people she's asking to allow join; an Ariel Clark (who needs a ride from Omaha) and a Kenneth Yen (who has his own ride) for those who choose to facebook stalk. What is everyone's opinion on this? I don't want to do anything that is not cool with everyone else. Personally I'm hesitant to vouch for so many people I don't know but we seem to have quite a lot of open space and more people means less cost. Re: ACEN 2013 Travel & Accommodations Thread - Kor - 11-09-2012 Can't vouch? Cash up front. Re: ACEN 2013 Travel & Accommodations Thread - TOH - 11-09-2012 We have a lot of open space because it's still early. Lots of things can happen in the six months we've got. [/quote] Re: ACEN 2013 Travel & Accommodations Thread - Silenteidolon - 11-10-2012 Ok, scratch the multiple people thing. I'm getting bombed by messages and they're just being rude now. I don't know these people and I certainly didn't offer them jack squat. The only person I might be willing to bring along is Kira's friend Ariel, who's been to a couple cons with her and is part of the Bleach cosplay group so I know she's legit. I was very strict with rules and payment stuff with her. She knows to pay two weeks in advance in full via paypal, split gas/tolls/parking, treat roommates for the weekend with respect, is over 21 and understands to byob or equivalent exchange, and so forth. If it's cool with everyone that I might bring two guests, I'll check with Dtrain about the ride situation since Ariel lives here in Omaha. Re: ACEN 2013 Travel & Accommodations Thread - kaese - 11-10-2012 Alright, I'm looking for a more "quiet" room to take me in. Preferably one with less people, so probably not the party room this year. The reason is that I'm going to have a lot of props this con, therefore I want to keep them as out of the way from people as possible. For the safety of my props as well as other people (some props are pointy to an extent). I don't know if there's one person assigning everyone to rooms or if we seek out the rooms ourselves. Let me know and I will act accordingly. Also, hello morico entourage will know of attendance/requirement of housing once AA applications open up and acceptances are sent out. I don't really know the inner workings of acen AA but application opens in Dec and apparently it fills up in less than an hour so it shouldn't be a very long process. Consider me tentative for this one. I'm pretty sure I could get off work for the Friday no problem to come down. I wouldn't need a ride; I have plenty of luggage space on the motorcycle now (took it to Ottawa for a week). Cash is the only variable for me right now. I'm currently broke; new truck, vacation, xbox for halo, etc. If I stop spending money like it's going out of style, I should be able to pay my truck loan off in 3 or 4 months. I can't accept anyone giving me cash to come down though, that's not really my style. Also, going back to college in the fall, and fuck if I'm ever going to be able to afford tuition. (60k for Stout, 100k for Madison for 4 years) In the event that I decide I will attend, I can provide transportation for one other person if they are in between the fine city of manitowoc, WI and Chicago, provided they don't mind riding bitch (I have a spare helmet) and only have about a backpack or a little more of luggage. |
