you DO retain a sense of reality on acid, it doesn't disassociate you with the world. It just changes it weirdly.
I've done acid twice, all it does is change a few things
like my shower
was a rainforest
it was rad
or how for a good 2 hrs, everything was 8bit
but i was still in this world.

It's not hard to keep a rational state of mind and properly functioning sense of reality no matter what you're drinking, smoking or dropping.
If it becomes so, you're doing it wrong and are the reason that so much that need not be banned, is.
I've gotten right shitfaced in my life, smoked and snorted cocaine, heroin and more types of pills than I can recall, tripped balls on acid and shrooms.. actually off the top of my head the only major things I've not done is meth or crack, and never once have I had a time that I can't remember the events after all is said and done. I've never blacked out, gotten so fucked up I don't know what's going on around me, or can't function properly if the need arose.
Alcohol and drugs are not problems, alcoholics and drug addicts are. Get some fucking self control and stop fucking it up for 'erryone.

If someone is that weak minded, I consider the above scenario a boon. Natural selection does not care about the laws of man, and will provide a plethora of ways in any society of any technological level for the stupid to stupid themselves right out of the equation.
If someone is going to be that stupid to not be able to keep a rational mind about themselves, good, they were probably on 19 different forms of government aid anyway.
Last time I was tripping my ass off, I shit you not I thought for a minute that the bonfire was a butt-ass naked stripper talking to me, but I also consciously knew the entire time that it was, in fact, a 6' tall bonfire, and that there is, in fact, no sex in the champagne room.

Can't speak as someone with experience with them, but moderation and safe practices usually make most things okay :v
I'd personally stay away from anything harder, but MDMA, LSD, Ritalin (not sure if that's really used recreationally), and of course cannabis have relatively low neurotoxicity and potential for addiction. Just have to be careful about how it's manufactured and transported :v

I only started drinking when i was 22, and that's all I've tried. I've also discovered that regularly exercising reduces my taste for the sauce by about 99%, so I've really cut back.
That, and we haven't done any FNF after-parties lately

although i think ritalin is closer to meth chemically....its a weird stimulant
