Re: First Post... - Vlambo - 01-02-2011 I've basically always written the date in this format: Month. Day, Year Ex. Jan. 2, 2011 Re: First Post... - Spore - 01-02-2011 Year, month, day is the most logical format. Re: First Post... - at0m - 01-02-2011 the most logical format is %Y-%m-%d, %H:%M:%S that's what i have set as my custom format on here ;x Re: First Post... - Ianki - 01-02-2011 (01-02-2011, 06:47 PM)Spore link Wrote: Year, month, day is the most logical format. It also takes the longest to get to the most pertinent information. So fail on the Human-information-interaction angle. [/quote]Except when you consider that your 'most pertinent information' isn't very useful to most unless an assumption regarding the year (or in some cases, the month) is made. The 'wasted time' is more than made up for by the increase in clarity and removal of ambiguity. Also, shit sorts properly by date when sorted alphabetically this way. Re: First Post... - Versus - 01-03-2011 failing to see how YMD is better than DMY or MDY in terms of "clarity" or "removal of ambiguity", the info is still there, and DMY has the information, in this case day, that changes much more often than year at the start rather than at the end. Try sorting things using computers and programming, then you will understand Re: First Post... - Versus - 01-03-2011 pretty sure programmers are a minority of the population |
