I can vouch on two occasions for Asus Warranties, one being my video card, got a GTX280 in exchange for my 7950 when it burned out and was under warranty.
And my laptop was one year out of warranty and they still fixed the case, replaced the LCD, and fixed a sound card issue I hadn't even listed...all for free...

Aye, there will be no gaming on it, just basically note taking, surfing the web and dual booting to Ubuntu. I' think I'm gonna buy it, just gotta get enough room on m credit card
