Re: Fallout: New Vegas - Eschatos - 11-28-2010

Finally finished, the ending is miles better than Fallout 3s.  Mostly good stuff with the exception of Cass's death and not being able to persuade the nightkin to stay in Jacobstown.  Also does taking over New Vegas for myself count as a good or a bad ending?

Starting Stats:
STR: 5
PER: 4
END: 9
CHR: 1
INT: 4
AGI: 8
LCK: 9

Traits: Four eyes (+1 PER), Small frame (+1 AGI)

Then I boosted Guns, Stealth, and Survival. Any tips? Going for a sniper/scout. Actually my character looks a bit like Denzel from Book of Eli and I was going for that kind of vibe (although maybe my strength is too low?)

Use your 9 Luck to face rape the casinos for caps, buy implants and an anti-material rifle

Re: Fallout: New Vegas - at0m - 12-28-2010

Four eyes seems like a great deal, but for perks that require PER it's crap. It basically reduces your PER by one, then makes all glasses give you PER+2. I think you'll be ok setting it that high, because you need like 7-8 base in order to qualify for all of them.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas - [SiN] Merc - 12-28-2010

I thought Small Frame sucked, I couldn't catch a break in any fight, due to my face and legs always breaking. I had to completely remake my cowboy character thanks to it.  Sad

If you tough it out and get adamantium skeleton so you take less limb damage its not too bad

guns/repair/speech are the best skills in the game, hth

This was my first build....and to be honest, I wish I took energy weapons, because they re-classed the Gauss Rifle  >Sad

Gauss was always the top tier for Small Guns, then they decided to stack it into energy weapons

[/quote]Because there are only like 4 Energy Weapons in the game. And the Gauss fucking sucks, because even with Energy at 100, it's got spread off its scope so you can't use it to snipe. Utter bullshit. You end up stuck with a modded Laser Rifle (which breaks down all the time) as a sniper weapon, which BLOWS against heavily armored targets. More efficient on ammo though.

My first build was Energy/Science/Repair, took a fourth tag in Lockpick

Re: Fallout: New Vegas - [SiN] Merc - 12-28-2010

Melee/Medicine/Speech got me through fine and dandy the first go-around. My guns score was like a 20, haha.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas - KarthXLR - 12-28-2010

I'm going energy/speech/science with repair following the three on Hardcore. Should I prepare my anus?

every weapon skill is viable from level 1

Yes, the one thing its not like is FO2 where if you pick energy your SOL until like 50% through the game

Re: Fallout: New Vegas - Surf314 - 12-28-2010

So everything seems to be going good, I got special training and the +2 skill points traits. I'm thinking about getting the reading one next. Oh and I did a run to the health clinic at level 2 to get an extra point in Int.

Right now I'm boosting science and lockpicking to 50, then I was going to work on some other skills. What takes priority guns, repair or speech?

Get a combat skill to 50, then get speech to 100

I've been told to bump some skills to 80 then read a magazine to pass a skill check, although that may not work with speech, but it is supposed to work great for science, lockpick, and the others you only need to be at 100 on rare occasions.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas - at0m - 12-28-2010

Lockpick mags are rare, Speech mags are even rarer. Science ones are relatively common, though.

Speech would be hard to do that for (unless you save and reload when you come to important barriers). Lockpicking... depends on how much you do it. If you don't lockpick much at all, you're fine with the magazines. IF you want to lockpick and hack computers a TON, you'll want to max them out. I vote with caff though on this, get a combat skill up kinda high first. I didn't really do that, made it a BITCH to complete the game, I eventually had to just draw enemies towards my partners so they could mow them down for me.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas - Surf314 - 12-29-2010

Anyone know how to fix the crashing?
