FNF 5/29/2009 Setup: Micspam Plugin Offline - Fail Medic - 05-27-2009

Start rummaging through your music folders because this Friday the Mic Spam plugin will take an authorized, temporary vacation for the duration of FNF!

I have hopes we can turn this into a great karaoke night in the spirit of this debacle that transpired so many moons ago in brb.u's previous life.

I'm planning on controlling this chaos with some rules of order which are hopefully simple and not too stifling.  I openly admit that I don't know what I'm doing, so if you have suggestions for keeping things smooth, please offer them.
  • We're going to have a signup for DJs.
  • Only DJs can play audio files on voice chat.
  • Each DJ will have a time slice allotted to them.  This means only one at a time.
  • Music only during the rounds.
    • This is karaoke night.  We're going to prefer music for this.
    • Non-music clips allowed at round end.  Sure, drop a Lex Luthor "WRONG!" here, but keep it below ear-splitting.
  • No ear splitting (i.e. "ear rape").  Flagrancy of this will net a temp !ban.
  • DJs must have their audio levels set sensibly beforehand.  Don't crank it to 11.
  • DJs trying to play outside their turn will get !muted
  • People opposed to the current DJ's offerings will be encouraged to mute them on their own client (Mute Players on TF2 main menu during game) so they can still enjoy FNF'ing.

As "Remove or Edit Micspam plugin" thread shows, there's a reasonable debate over BRB's stance on mic-spamming.  This FNF won't represent a change in policy; this is an "ok, just for a little while" thing.  Let's enjoy it!

If you wanna sign up, say so and give an idea of what you're bringing.  I won't hold you to that; it'll just give us a preview of what you're bringin'.  I really hope one of you brings "Final Destination", though Big Grin .

Is this a good idea?  Dunno, lol.  Kinda depends on you!

"Official Schedule"
We'll have 8 (eight) 15-minute slices.  Whoever is present and highest on the list (as ordered above) gets first slice.  If a DJ can't get in and is passed over but joins later on, the next slice coming up will be for that DJ.

A kind soul or I should post a link to something on how to set up HLDJ or HLSS or whatever the kids are using these days.  I'm going to definitely play with it on my own beforehand since at the moment I'm ignorant.

Wondering weather or not I should do the atmospheric bad assery tunes with no lyrics, or just pick a luvable singalongable song

Important note: Depending on how we start FNF, or regardless of how (kick / no-kick), if you signed up but can't squeeze in, ;_; sorry, that's the way it goes.  The first slice will go to the DJ closest to the top of the list that's present, and it'll go from there.

If you are thinking about not coming because you're leery of the idea / weary of mic spam... m(_ _)m please give it a chance!  Who knows, someone may play somethin' you want to sing to, and I promise to do my best to keep things under control.
